Narcolepsy, Novels, and Missing Meds

September 22nd is World Narcolepsy Day. Here's to recognizing all those out there who live with the challenges of this frustrating disorder.

Lately, I've struggled with motivation and energy, and my insurance has only added to the frustration. It hasn't wanted to cover the medication that my children and I rely on. Four people in one house with narcolepsy, all struggling to get the medication we need—it sounds like some kind of dystopian sick joke.

The good news is that two of my children will be receiving partial shipments for the time being. If I could just manage to get my son's prescription filled, I wouldn't have to worry quite as much. Perhaps when the meds are being delivered regularly, and I'm not missing doses and struggling as much, I'll finally be able to dedicate some of my evenings to really diving into Aurelia's story.

Or maybe it's a bad sign that when the author sits down to write the novel, she puts herself to sleep.

In the words of my characters: gods, I hope not.
