This book completely pulled me in from the very first chapter. The story follows a teenage girl whose life is turned upside down when she is forced to leave everything familiar behind and start over. Just when she thinks things can’t get any more challenging, life continues to throw obstacle after obstacle her way.
What I enjoyed most was how easy it was to become invested in the main character’s journey. Cat Johnston does a great job capturing the uncertainty and emotions that come with major life changes and unexpected challenges. The story kept me wanting to know what would happen next.
The book is engaging, emotional, and full of heart. If you enjoy young adult novels that explore friendship, family, change, and overcoming difficult circumstances, I highly recommend giving Shifting Destiny a read.

Catherine Johnston does an amazing job of creating an immersive world that keeps you turning page after page. The descriptions of the scenery and the characters paint a vivid picture. I especially love the way she uses scent to describe the world. Love this and am looking forward to the sequel!
I absolutely love this book and I read it on 2 days. This is my first time reading a fantasy book, and it has made me want to read more. I recommend this book to anyone from the ages of 16 and up. I absolutely can't wait to read what the author has coming up next.
To me, this was a new twist on a genre that kept me interested throughout. There were surprises, and the characters were well developed. Grab a copy, you won't regret it!!!
